With both the 344-megawatt (MW) Masinloc Coal-Fired Power Plant Unit 2 and 500-MW San Buenaventura Power Lt. Coal synchronizing back to the grid earlier today at 4:05 AM and 7:01 AM, respectively, the Luzon Grid is now back to NORMAL CONDITION. 

At 12:49 AM today, San Miguel Corporation's 300-MW Masinloc Unit 1 went on forced outage. The initial report indicates that the tripping of a unit auxiliary transformer due to high winding temperature caused the outage. As of this update, the schedule for the unit's return to service is yet to be determined. 

Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. continues to implement its supply restrictions to natural gas-fired power plants. These restrictions have resulted to a total of 308 MW curtailed capacity.

For First Gen's natural gas-fired power plants, some units of the Santa Rita (SR) Power Plant were changed over to liquid fuel in order to utilize the capacity of San Gabriel (SG). The allocation fo SR was diverted to SG since the latter cannot run on liquid fuel.  

The Department of Energy is calling on all concerned generation companies to expedite their restoration activities to ensure the availability of sufficient and stable power at all times. The practice of effective energy utilization and conservation measures is also encouraged during this time.
