FUTURE OF BIOFUELS: In his presentation, Assistant Secretary Pulido highlighted the increase of supply and demand of biofuel in the country and its production capacity as of 2020. 

He also underscored that the DOE is continuously embarking on Research, Development & Demonstration activities geared towards identifying viable feedstock for biofuel production. These initiatives are currently undertaken by partner academic institutions and other industry stakeholders.

Signed into law on 12 January 2007, RA 9367 or the Biofuels Act of 2006 was implemented to increase the contribution of biofuels in the country’s energy mix, while reducing its dependence on imported fossil-based fuels, enhance the quality of the environment, and create opportunities for countryside socio-economic development.
