TAGUIG CITY - Following the first leg of the IEC for Luzon last July, the Department of Energy together with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will be hosting the Visayas-leg of the Virtual Energy Investment IEC Campaigns with the theme, “Diskarteng Enerhiya: Mura na, Malinis Pa!” tomorrow (8 September).
Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said, “We continue to regularly hold these briefings to further coordinate and provide our stakeholders with timely updates on industry developments, particularly energy investments. Thus, we need to double our efforts for more energy projects to come in, and work closely with our LGUs to provide greater access to energy services, lessen costs, and provide more options for our consumers”.
With the theme, “Diskarteng Enerhiya: Mura na, Malinis Pa!”, the IEC for Visayas aims to provide energy stakeholders an overview of the energy sector's existing policies, programs, and initiatives to reduce electricity costs as we progress towards economic recovery amidst the pandemic.
There will be breakout sessions to discuss various mechanisms on Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA), Green Energy Option (GEOP), Net Metering, Renewable Energy Systems in Remote Areas, and Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C).
Secretary Cusi will grace the event together with other DOE officials, Retail Electricity Suppliers Association Vice President Raymond R. Rosues, Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP) Operations Senior Specialist Valfia S. Uy-Gregorio, and Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) Program Manager Airene Hipolito, along with other government agencies and energy stakeholders.
The Mindanao-leg of the IEC is scheduled to take place on 10 November 2021.
