Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Selva Ramachandran on Tuesday (May 4) discussed the continuing partnerships on Renewable Energy development and Climate Finance in the Philippines.

During the virtual meeting, Energy Undersecretary Emmanuel P. Juaneza  informed the Secretary that the UNDP has extended the Development for Renewable Energy Applications Market Mainstreaming and Sustainability (DREAMS) Project's duration from July 2021 to January 2023.

In his remarks, Secretary  Cusi emphasized the need for the  Department of Energy (DOE) and UNDP to work together towards Climate Justice. This includes securing investments to attain the policy directive on 100% household electrification by 2022, and crafting policies and programs that will  eventually lead to increase utilization of renewable energy and lower cost of electricity among household consumers.
