TAGUIG CITY - Following the flooding from consistent rains and the magnitude 6.7 earthquake at 4:49 this morning (24 July) with epicenter in Batangas, Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi immediately directed members of the energy family to conduct an assessment of the impact on energy facilities, with a formal report to be submitted to the Department of Energy (DOE) at the soonest possible time.

On the other hand, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued series of rainfall advisories and advised everyone to take precautionary measures against possible impacts particularly landslides and flashfloods.

He likewise directed the Department-led Task Force on Energy Resiliency (TFER) to assist in the assessments and consolidate all pertinent information for public dissemination once available.

“Ramdan natin ang pagkabahala ng lahat sa tila sunud-sunod na unos habang tayo ay nasa kalagitnaan ng pandemya. Walang pinipiling oras ang mga sakuna, kaya patuloy rin po ang pagsusumikap namin sa Kagawarang alamin at solusyunan ang maaaring naging epekto ng lindol at walang tigil na pag-ulan sa ating mga imprastrakturang pang-enerhiya,” Secretary Cusi stressed.

Initial reports from energy stakeholders indicate that there have been no major damages to energy facilities thus far.

The National Power Corporation (NPC) is expected to hand-in their report on dams and NPC-SPUG (Small Power Utilities Group).
