This year's celebration, which was organized by the DOE- Financial Services team, focuses on the theme "Building A Sustainable Energy Future Amidst A Changing Landscape."

In his message, Secretary Cusi emphasized the need to ensure the country’s energy security for the future generation of Filipinos. That is why, he said, the DOE has been doing periodic reviews of the country’s energy policies to make sure the government will be able to promote all sources of energy and encourage foreign investments.

After nuclear power, Secretary Cusi said, the Duterte administration is now looking at hydrogen for future possible inclusion in the country’s energy mix.

“I have recently formed a team to study its potential for the local industry given that hydrogen is seen as the fuel of the future,” Secretary Cusi said.

Secretary Cusi likewise thanked the DOE family for their support since he assumed the post in 2016.

“I thank everyone for your commitment and for your support during the last four years and a half of my term at DOE,” he said.

The NECM also coincides with the DOE's 48th anniversary.
