The Department of Energy (DOE)-led Task Force on Energy Resiliency (TFER) is releasing this second update relative to the magnitude 6.6 earthquake last 18 August in Masbate.
STATUS OF LIFELINE FACILITIES:
A. GENERATION
- The DMCI Cataingan Satellite Plant is now under normal operations.
- NPC-SPUG power plants in the Bicol Region, EDC Tongnan, and EDC Leyte A, have no reported damages to their facilities.
B. TRANSMISSION
- The NPC 69KV Line is operating normally.
- There have been no reported damages/disturbances in the NGCP Leyte-Samar Area.
C. DISTRIBUTION
- Areas served by the Masbate Electric Cooperative (MASELCO) experienced partial power interruption from the earthquake.
- On 19 August 2020, load shedding was caused by a 2.9 MW power shortage, due to the repair of DMCI main plant's two genset units.

Areas fully restored: Aroroy, Balud, Mandaon, City of Masbate, Mobo, Cataingan, Cawayan, Esperanza, Pio V. Corpus (Limbuhan), Placer
- There are still on-going inspections of the areas affected by the toppled C1-C7 construction assembly, supplying 3-37.5 kVA banked transformer to the Cataingan National High School.
- MORE Power (PIOU) reported no severe damage to their distribution facilities. All five substations are on normal operations. However, their technical team will still be conducting a thorough inspection of their facilities, to ensure system reliability.
